OLD FARMHOUSE REBUILT FOR 21st CENTURY LIVING
Lower Farm is a building that has seen many alterations and additions over the years. As a result, the original Farmhouse was dominated by them, so much so that on approaching the property you were encouraged to drive past it and gain access via a side door and modern conservatory. Internally the house lacked flow and a connection to its rural surroundings.
The design solution reinstates the front door and brings people into the heart of the home again; this balances the proportions of the original rooms before leading you into a modern light filled kitchen and family space, the new hub of the house.
The design also includes a separate barn built from SIPS, to provide an energy efficient space to passive standards. This space will accommodate a home office, gym and living space for guests. The timber cladding and metal roof will reflect the surroundings barns to maintain an agricultural feel.
