ZINC AND THATCH, WITH A CONTEMPORARY BARN TWIST
Rose cottage is, without doubt, a beautiful modest three bedroom thatched listed cottage. Tucked away at the end of a long winding track, it has uninterrupted views across the fields.
Untouched by time and without the modern conveniences of central heating. The owners alongside their young family where looking to extend their listed cottage to give them the space they needed without compromising the integrity of the original cottage.
We left the original cottage untouched, aside from replacing the windows. The new space will be made up of two, agricultural proportioned pods, linked together with a lightweight central hall, wrapped in glass. Both pods, step down the site and house two bedrooms, bathroom and vaulted kitchen, dining space. Clad completely in zinc.
Well aware that our proposal was a radical contrast to the original cottage we were delighted to receive the full support from Historic England.
